Rev. Robin Junker-Boyce

Our Pastor

Pastor Robin began her ministry among us as our Settled Pastor on December 1, 2015.

As a child, Robin could often be found tagging along with her father as he served as Boston Port Chaplain, visiting ships and sailors from around the world in Boston Harbor. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong fascination with people, stories, and the many ways faith communities connect across cultures and backgrounds.

Robin received a B.S. in Biology from Boston College in 1993 and a Master’s degree in Psychology and Religious Studies from Andover Newton Theological School in 1997, with an extended focus on hospital chaplaincy. She later completed the equivalent coursework for a Master of Divinity and ordination in the United Church of Christ and was ordained in 2002 at Old North Church in Marblehead, Massachusetts.

In May of 2014, she completed a fruitful twelve-year ministerial post at Bethany Church UCC in Randolph, Vermont, and began a sabbatical year to write on contemplative prayer and spend quality time with her husband, Sean, and her three boys, Fritz, Ulysses, and Charlie.

The two greatest highlights of Robin’s earlier ministry were the implementation of a contemplative prayer community for adults and the creation of a vibrant youth ministry in which more than thirty teens could often be found meditating together on Friday nights in the church basement.

In recent years, her ministry has expanded into community organizing and public advocacy. Robin has worked alongside migrant farmworkers, immigrant communities, and racial justice partners throughout Vermont and New England. In 2025, she helped co-write Vermont’s bell-to-bell phone-free schools legislation, which was signed into law after years of grassroots organizing, coalition building, and partnership with parents, educators, and students.

If she had to narrow down her many passions, they would be preaching, community building, youth ministry, contemplative prayer, justice work, and exploring the relationship between science, technology, and spirituality.

Robin also writes on Substack about artificial intelligence, faith, and the future of the progressive church. Check out her latest essay, When God Talked Back.
